Falconer The Reformed Teaching Observational Protocol (RTOP) provides an operational definition of an inquiry-oriented instructional environment that has been formally labeled as "Reformed Teaching". We have modified several secondary science education methods at classes at NAU to include RTOP as philosophical and operational definitions of how to teach science. NAU secondary science students learn how to use RTOP to evaluate and reflect upon their own practices, their classmatesТ practices, their university instructorsТ practices and their cooperating teachers' practices. RTOP is then used as an evaluation tool in their student teaching. We will present interview data from current and recently graduated students who have used RTOP.
