Dear Physics Teacher,

Our organizing committee would like to invite you to our annual Physics Teachers Meeting and Workshop on Friday December 6, 2013. This year we have planned some talks that that looks at the nature of our teaching.  Our program  includes Dr. Dan MacIsaac (SUNY,  Buffalo State College) on Learning Trajectories: Fostering Learning of Introductory Physics via Student Interactions and Dr. Mark Freeman on Misconceptions in Magnetism . In the afternoon, we have a concurrent session ,  a Make and Take Workshop with Allen Lineville, Jeff Goldie, Laura Pankratz and Pina Chiarello or a College Instructors Round-table hosted by Stefan Cartledge.  The colloquium speaker will be Dr. MacIsaac on Fostering Learning of Introductory Physics via Intensive Student Discourse. The cost for the day is $30 and includes refreshments and lunch at the Faculty Club. Please register by Dec 4, 2013. Payment can be made by cheque or cash. As we have changed our organizational structure this year, we are no longer able to accept credit credit cards.

Parking Information

Parking on campus is generally constrained. Although there are no classes, visitor parking may be tight due to the Butterdome Craft fair. The vistor parking lots closest to CCIS is Windsor Car Park (116 Street and 92 Avenue – Entrance off 116 Street) or lot V.  Other main lots are Education Car Park (114 Street and 87Avenue -Entrance off 114 Street) or Stadium Car Park (116 Street and 89 Avenue- Entrance off 89 Avenue). The daily rate for parking is $14, payable upon entry. Payment machines are located throughout these lots. E-Lot (Entrance off Saskatchewan Drive,about 114St) is also close -by, but parking is $5/hr with no daily maximum. Please note the location of the event is in the new Centennial Centre for Interdisplinary Science (CCIS) Bldg. at the north end of the quad You may go indoors through SAB, CAB, and Chem East from the University LRT station. For a campus map go to www.campusmap.ualberta.ca.
