Finishing the Generator
The blade shafts were made from 1/4" hardwood dowels. These were cut to lengths of about 4 inches. A small 3 volt DC motor was used as the electricity generator for the project. Some black electrical tape was wrapped around the motor housing to create a tight fit within generator's new home, a 90 degree PVC elbow. 16 gauge audio wire was used to connect to the generator's output tabs. This wire was soldered securely. A small hole was drilled in the PVC elbow to allow the wire to exit conveniently. Here we also see a sample of the plastic cups that will be sacrificed to make the blades.
