Trip Leader Considerations

When evaluating your needs, here are some important factors to consider:

  • The average time spent by a trip leader is 100+ hours logisticizing and organizing.
  • When you only get a permit once every ten years or more, quality and service should be top priority.
  • Food is an important part of your Canyon trip. Don't skimp. And make sure everyone looks over the menu and is oriented toward the same food philosophy. o When delegating to group members, everyone has the best intentions of performing, but "stuff" happens. Guess who picks up the pieces? The trip leader!
  • Do not bring couples on your trip who are not getting along. Social breakdown in the Canyon can be ugly.
  • Live music always enhances a Grand Canyon trip.
  • No one is really committed to going on your trip until you have their deposit.
